Hi, I am Rory. I have worked in Financial Risk for over 20 years. A science background specialising in mathematical physics gave me the essential analytical tools that enabled me to launch a career in Risk Management. I understand all levels of an organisation having worked as Market Risk analyst analysing foreign exchange and interest rate transactions to a quantitative analyst, pricing complex options and implementing risk measuring metrics such as Value at Risk for Basel II. I worked as a front office trader for a large insurance company, trading risk and liquidity positions and managing credit exposures. From there, I travelled to Zurich, Switzerland, where I started to appreciate from the top down, how risk is implemented across a large financial institution, taking a leading role in implementing the Capital Requirements needed for Solvency II for Zurich Insurance Group.
Before launching out on my own my last Institutional role was implementing a top-down and bottom-up global Risk Identification project across a major Swiss bank. In designing and leading this project, it came to my attention that there is a shortfall in expertise available on this subject. It was something I researched and developed by pulling together expertise from different sources.
